The company was founded in 1956 in the city of Curitiba, Paraná. In the beginning, it manufactured stoves, hot plates and metal furniture. Soon it began producing and marketing household appliances.
Currently, the company directly employs 1,250 at its administrative offices in Curitiba and new distribution center in the city of Joinville, Santa Catarina, which covers an area of 36,000 m2. The new distribution center is ready to produce 3,000,000 products per year and is large enough to store an inventory of 6,000,000 pieces, concentrating the company's entire national and imported product inventory.
Currently, the company Britânia brand has nearly 200 products in its portfolio. This includes approximately 200 under the Britânia brand and 150 that bear the Philco name, which was licensed by Grupo Britânia at the end of 2007.
Britânia has strengthened its position as one of Brazil’s most important portable electronics and electronic equipment brands, and is also the country's fastest growing company in these segments.
